Ghost Birds

http://www.greenpeace.org.nz/oiloncanvas/ 'Like a countless assembly of small ghostly shadows urging us to do better' - The oil prints featured in this exhibition were made with imprints of the body of a little blue penguin dipped in the oil that killed it spilled by the Rena oil spill in the bay of Plenty. It and the other bird featured in the Oil on Canvas' exhibition are just two of an estimated 20,000 birds killed after the shipwrecked Rena spilled 350 tonnes of oil into the Bay of Plenty. It is hoped that the work can serve as a memorial to the creatures that lost their lives and as a stark warning against the far greater risk posed by deep sea oil drilling in NZ waters.

it, but do it right.
animals are treated in the world.
sad
a cargo oil spill, completely unrelated to offshore drilling. Just because it involves the same medium - hydrocarbons - doesn't necessarily mean it needs to the same consequences. And what evidence do we have to quantify an offshore drilling campaign being 1000 times worse. Pure emotional bla

comment was marked as spam. Greenpeace are doing themselves no favours here, if they want to make a difference, they should go about it in an effective and rational way, not through vague, incorrect and misleading statements. They do good work, but this just casts a shadow on their credibility o

the life of a penguin or seagull than the life of a human being. Why weren't the thousands of dollars spent on this add put to good use, like funding a campaign for starving families or supporting orphanages?
same way. It will be honest.
you all still drive cars...
who would then spill oil and torment what they are trying to protect.
COMPANIES - ARE SHIT
has not been cured. I get so sick of hearing people make this kind of argument. There are a myriad of causes in the world. They all need attention. Promoting one cause isn't an indicator that that is the only cause cared about. Animals get far fewer resources than human causes, yet humans cause
these problems. It's not asking too much that we fix the shit we cause. Less narcissism please.
me like you supported them in the first place or you would have gotten what this video was about. Take your false umbrage elsewhere.
but well done.
the captain purposly wrecked his vessel just to kill as much of your "countless assembly of small ghostly shadows" as he could, but greens are using it as propaganda for their pathalogical hatred of everything that is productive in any way ,
the fundamental problem I have with green-peace organizations: Their ammoral valuing of an animal or tree's "life" over that of a human being.
and gas production needs to exist.
exclusively w. animal.environment based causes...there are other institutes in place to cover the issues of orhans and starvation. you should go hassle them about inadequacies....
